Holistic Approach to Winter Wellness: Gearing up for a lifetime of good health

Wednesday, Nov. 4, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Often when barroom conversation turns to holistic anything, many in earshot begin to roll their eyes back in their head. However, if experience has taught me anything, it’s that the skeptics start to sing a different tune when conventional over-the-counter cures for the winter junk aren’t touching an illness. Suddenly, there’s a new appreciation for holistic health and wellness. So before you catch your first virus of the season, learn from a local treasure.

Reminding us that prevention is the best medicine, local author, herbalist, and wellness expert Lisa Rose presents a Holistic Approach to Winter Wellness next week. Join her at Cascade’s Harvest Health with an hour-long program on the tips and tricks to maintaining a balanced, healthy approach that will hopefully ensure an illness-free winter season.

“The seasons are shifting once again and already the first signs of the cold and flu season are already making their way through the social sphere as we hear of folks coming down with illness,” says Rose about the 2015/16 cold and flu season. “Everyone says that they don’t have time to be sick and this is true. But for many like myself who are self-employed, there are no sick days for people like me so I have to stay on top of my health.”

And Rose is right. As she shares that others may try and sell folks a prescriptive-based recipe in their approach to health, Rose is about the integration of techniques that help give all of us who follow her advice a leg up in the arena of prevention.

In addition to her talk, Rose will be signing copies of her latest book, Midwest Foraging, immediately following the lecture.

If you have a desire to meet a vibrant local author who is in the process of writing her third book, then slow down long enough to visit on Wednesday night at her one-hour event at Harvest Health.
